Windows 7 AutoPlay Enable | Disable Settings
In Windows 7 you can easily manage some features of the auto play function in the control panel. If you have done everything and nothing works, the windows registry has been misconfigured and must be corrected for the autoPlay to work.
Troubleshooting AutoPlay Using Regedit
In some version of windows you can also use the group Policy, when available...
Group Policy Editor is not supplied with Windows Home editions, however, you can use regedit to achieve the same result.
Open regedit and locate the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Change: NoDriveTypeAutorun to 0x91
If necessary create this key as a DWORD.
If you don't feel confident in messing with the registry, it is understandable. Messing with the wrong key may render you computer useless. Look for technical experts to help you out.
